I scripted and storyboarded this video last week and am really proud of how it turned out. Shot at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA, it captures the feel of the studio and the seamlessness with which the Softube amp emulations fit into that world-class environment.
I have played a ton of modelers and emulators and this one is probably top of the heap for sound quality and ease of use. It just doesn’t get any easier, better and more powerful than this. Especially running on this fancy Universal Audio Apollo interface, I haven’t seen a more user-friendly and great sounding recording rig for the consumer, pro-sumer, or professional-on-the-go. It sounds SO ridiculously good. And then add the UAD Platform plugins and your Grammys are only held at bay by your creativity.

What about compared to the line 6 hd range?? Sounds great.. But i know you use the hd stuff already so is it good enough for you to switch over for recording purposes??
Hi Peter,
Yeah, the Softube stuff sounds really amazing. I’m sure part of what sounds great, though, is the Universal Audio Apollo interface. Even just plugging a tele into the Apollo with no processing sounded warm. Just the DRY signal sounded great! So I hafta believe that the a/d d/a converters are doing some sonic magic here. However, I firmly believe that in the context of recorded music, it’s tough to hear the 5 to 10% improvement from one piece of modeling gear to another.
